Spring 2021 Updates
Posted on May 2nd, 2021
Hello residents of Weatherstone! Your HOA Board has been hard at work this year making improvements to the community, planning events, and dealing with unexpected issues. Here is what we have been up to:
Improvements:
The 2020 Reserve Study has been finalized. You can find it and other documents on the Documents tab of this website. We are happy to have this updated report to assist with planning future repairs and maintenance in the neighborhood.
Pool area- The pool pergola and picnic areas has recently been painted and refreshed. The tables and BBQ grills at the picnic areas behind the pool are looking great and are ready for use. Feel free to reach out if you would like to reserve these areas for your family picnic.
Lighting - Last fall the Board invested in new lighting at the entrances to the neighborhood. These new lights are more uniform, directed and energy efficient.
Landscaping - We have authorized our landscaping company LCS to perform additional work to cover Tree Pruning, Red Twig Dogwood Rejuvenation Prune, Perennial, Deadheading, Rose Pruning and Rose fertilizing. You will also soon notice more colorful plantings being added to the monuments along with the normal annuals that are planted in the entrance island ends.
Events:
We had a hugely successful Easter Egg Hunt on a beautiful spring day! We had almost 200 residents participate and gave out over 2000 eggs!
Upcoming events being planned include the annual garage sale (date TBD - usually first weekend in June) and the return of the Fourth of July Parade (Planning Volunteers needed).
Food Truck Thursdays will return this summer, every other Thursday starting June 24. There are a few open spots for food trucks so if you have any suggestions, please send them to Weatherstonecolorado@gmail.com.
Unexpected Issues:
The Board has been addressing some unexpected issues including a power outage at the pool caused by a faulty power supply line. We worked with Xcel Energy and Law Electric to get this issue corrected.
There was also a leak in the roof at the pool house that we are having fixed. Damage was limited to the pool pump room.
We managed to avoid major damage from the late spring snow storms but we do have a large broken branch near the entrance that will be cut off soon.
Upcoming projects:
The Board has gathered quotes on several maintenance items throughout the community including fence painting, pool resurfacing, and monument stone tuck pointing. These issues will be addressed as projected in the Reserve Study and dependent on funding. Residents will be responsible for painting fences adjoining their property lines that are not on HOA property. Remember Highlands Ranch Brown paint color only. If you are unsure if your fence is your responsibility, reach out to HG Management.
The County has been doing work on the street cracks throughout our neighborhood. We have been advised the Metro District will be working on the pool parking lot asphalt, specifically, crack seal, sweep, stripe, seal coat to be completed May 19-21st. Please do not park in that lot during this timeframe to allow them to complete the work.
This year we do not foresee any COVID related limitations on the pool besides our standard pool rules (including Guest limits). We will adhere to any State/County guidelines that are in effect during our pool season. There will be an announcement soon of a big improvement to the pool area, stay tuned!
Board meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of the Month at 6:30 pm. A link for online meetings will be emailed. See Calendar on website for upcoming dates.
